Samurai illustration

Above s a drawing that I've been meaning to finish for a while but havent really gotten round to it till now. The inspiration was a japanese suit of armour that I came across at the V&A gallery in london.

Illustration

Attached is an illustration I did today that many of you will recognise as the forest spirit from Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke. I like to practice illustration as a hobby because A: I'm quite good at it, and B: its also pretty good fun. I think it's important to do some fun drawings which take you away from your course work every now and then. It's a nice change which keeps your drawings style from going stale.

Above is a drawing sheet that I compiled with a lot of the drawings and renderings that I deemed any good over the year to date, after messing about with a couple in photoshop. Our next main task at hand is to put a portfolio of our work so far together so this is one of the starting pages.

Attached are two sheets of work that I produced a couple of months ago for my graphics module. We were given a very broad brief in that we were to design an artefact using photoshop and produce a workbook that details the steps taken to create said artefact. The product seen in the final poster (the weird mouse looking thing) is a pen which can be used in all the same instances as you might use a mouse, but is designed to work better in places where you might need to draw and write freely by hand. Think of a bamboo-esque pen minus the tablet. Anyway I hope you liked looking and leave a comment to let me know what you think!

Canon AV-1 and Sony cans

One of the tasks that we were set was to pick two objects; one cylindrical and one rectangular, and do two layout sheets showing the objects from different views. Preferably the drawings were to be rendered and photoshop was allowed to lay all of your sketches out onto one sheet. These are some sketches of my dads camera, which was my rectangular product of choice, before i put them all together

Paint Roller

Every Thursday we have a design society which is a cool place to go and hang out, share ideas and get some drawings done. This is a study sheet of a paint roller i did there in about 30 mins. Also i had just gotten a new set of pro markers so this was my first attempt at adding a bit of colour to the mix.

Legos

Today theres a burst of posts. This is because I want to present all of my work from start to finish, and I'm about a month into my course right now which means I have to backtrack over previous stuff. These sheets are of legos, which seemed like simple enough objects at first but actually turned out to be quite challenging to draw. They are a great way to introduce the idea of correct proportions and also are a good start for someone who has never drawn in 3D. And they're fun to play with!
